"Zombies" crash on I-84 near Lloyd exit - PORTLAND, Ore

A car full of people dressed as zombies crashed on Interstate 84 near downtown Portland on Friday, causing initial confusion by people who witnessed the crash.

Portland Police said the car was swerving in the eastbound lanes of the freeway just east of the Lloyd District just after 9:30 p.m. when it rolled over and crashed onto its top.

Emergency crews took five victims from the crash to area hospitals with non-life-threatening injuries.

Police said that in their investigation they learned that the people inside the car were dressed as zombie costumes and they were headed to a party at the time of the crash.

Sgt. Greg Stewart said people who witnessed the crash initially thought the victims' injuries were much more serious, because of the zombie costumes.

"We're glad that everyone is alive, despite being 'undead'," Sgt. Stewart said, referring to the costumes.

While everyone in the car was taken to the hospital, Stewart said crews are investigating the possibility that more people were in the car at the time of the crash but fled the scene on foot.

The crash halted traffic in the eastbound lanes for about an hour, reducing travel to just one lane. All eastbound lanes were opened at around 11 p.m.

WHY I CARRY A GUN

My old grandpa once said to me, "Son, there comes a time in every man's life when he stops bustin' knuckles and starts bustin' caps. Usually it's when he becomes too old to take a whoopin'."

I don't carry a gun to kill people. I carry a gun to keep from being killed. I don't carry a gun to scare people. I carry a gun because sometimes people in the world can be scary..

I don't carry a gun because I'm paranoid. I carry a gun because there are real threats in the world. I don't carry a gun because I'm evil. I carry a gun because I have lived long enough to see the evil in the world. I don't carry a gun because I hate the government. I carry a gun because I understand the limitations of government.

I don't carry a gun because I'm angry. I carry a gun so that I don't have to spend the rest of my life hating myself for failing to be prepared to save my loved ones lives. I don't carry a gun because I want to shoot someone. I carry a gun because I want to die at a ripe old age in my bed, and not on a sidewalk somewhere tomorrow.

I don't carry a gun because I'm a cowboy. I don't carry a gun to make me feel like a man. I carry a gun because men know how to take care of themselves and the ones they love. I don't carry a gun because I feel inadequate. I carry a gun because, unarmed and facing three armed thugs, I am inadequate.

I don't carry a gun because I love it. I carry a gun because I love life and the people who make it meaningful to me.

"Police Protection" is an oxymoron. Free citizens must protect themselves. Police do not protect you from crime; they usually just investigate the crime after it happens and then call someone in to clean up the mess.

Personally, I carry a gun because I'm too young to die and too old to take a whoopin'." Remember the average response time to a 911 call is over 4 minutes. The average response time of a 357 magnum is 1400 FPS

You can be a victim, or a gun owner. It’s your choice.

The Parking Ticket

The other day I went downtown to run a few errands. I went into the
local coffee shop for a snack.

I was only there for about 5 minutes, and when I came out, there was
this cop writing out a parking ticket.

I said to him, 'Come on, man, how about giving a disabled person a
break'?

He ignored me and continued writing the ticket. His insensitivity
annoyed me, so I called him a 'Nazi.'

He glared at me and then wrote out another ticket for having worn
tires.

So I proceeded to call him a 'doughnut eating Gestapo.' He finished
the second ticket and put it on the windshield with the first.

Then he wrote a third ticket when I called him a moron in blue..

This went on for about 20 minutes. The more I talked back to him the
more tickets he wrote.

Personally, I didn't really care. I came downtown on the bus, and
the car that he was putting the tickets on had one of those bumper
stickers that said, ' Obama '08.'

I try to have a little fun each day.

The doctor tells me that it's important for my health. ...................

On a related note, I have a question for you. What was the most positive result of the "Cash for Clunkers" program? Don't know? I will answer for you. It took 95% of the Obama bumper stickers off the road.

Is Obama Trying to Start a Second Civil War?

I never thought I would live to see the day when a state would be sued by the Federal Government for enforcing Federal law. Sadly, that is just how low this country has sunk since Ohitler took office. Ohitler must be afraid of losing some of his Acorn voters.

President Obama's Justice Department, with the encouragement of Der Fuhrer himself, is sueing the State of Arizona over its new, perfectly legal immigration law. A majority of the public favors the legislation, leaving many to realize that the increasingly detached White House has gone too far.

Anyone with basic political sense can see this for what it is: a purely political move meant to excite Hispanic voters, whether legal or illegal. They are a key piece of the Democratic base, and he wants their votes in time for the November elections. Obama is hoping that a bloody judicial showdown on immigration will translate into high turnout for Democrats. And that could be enough to sustain Democratic majorities in Congress.

I hope it will backfire on him if he is successful in his illegal activity. For his plan to work, registered Hispanic voters would need to turn out in droves and vote Democrat. Unfortunately for Ohitler, most Hispanics are basically conservative.

What Obama truly wants is division as he continues to try to change or ignore the Constitution. One way he wants to reach that goal is to pit states against each other, as he is attempting to do here. States with Dumb-ocrat governors will stubbornly follow Ohitler, even when they know he is wrong. We have got to stand up and resist Ohitler's tactics, and call it for what it is. This is a blatant attempt to create a new American civil war.

Here's something to think about. The governor of California is shooting his mouth off about the Arizona law, but California has a similar law on the books. Not one word about that from the useless media. Missouri has a law that is harsher than the Arizona law, we have not heard one word about that either. Why isn't the Federal Government sueing California or Missouri? And why is the media supporting Ohitler in his destruction of America?

Meeting of the Presidents

So I said to him, "Barack, I know Abe Lincoln, and you ain't Abe Lincoln."

You cannot help the poor by destroying the rich.
You cannot strengthen the weak by weakening the strong.
You cannot bring about prosperity by discouraging thrift.
You cannot lift the wage earner up by pulling the wage payer down.
You cannot further the brotherhood of man by inciting class hatred.
You cannot build character and courage by taking away people's initiative and independence.
You cannot help people permanently by doing for them, what they could and should do for themselves.

The Missing Birthday

My Youngest son, Darren, has a birthday on July 8. His trouble started on Sunday Morning. His Sunday School teacher, Sis, Kelly, had planned a party for him in their Sunday School class. We had to leave early due to his brother, Aaron being sick. It is a sad day when you have to miss your own Birthday Party. When Aaron was admitted to the hospital for surgery, we never dreamed that he would still be in the hospital on Darren's birthday. There were complications, so Aaron was still in the hospital on July 8, so we had to postpone the birthday plans. All he got from me was a Happy Birthday wish on Facebook, and all he got from his Mom and grandparents was a phone call. Bless his poor little pitiful heart.
His Grandpa Jim Kilgore went to town and got him some ribs and cupcakes, so that made him feel special. His birthday has come and gone, but he still has not had his celebration. Well, at least he has something to look forward to. He knows he won't be left out. His brother got all the attention for a few days, but it's almost his turn.
I just hope he don't think he needs to get sick in order to get some attention!

A Rough Week

It all started on Sunday morning with my oldest son, Aaron, having a stomach ache. He asked for some Pepto Bismol and was given some. We went to Sunday School and had to leave early due to Aaron's not feeling well. He lay on the sofa all afternoon. He said he was feeling a little better that evening, so I took him and his brother to youth choir practice. He was feeling so bad that we left before church started.
I was awakened Monday morning with Aaron asking to be taken to the emergency room. I knew he must be feeling bad because he never wants to go to the doctor. When we got to the emergency room, he was called immediately to see the nurse. He was taken to a room and the doctor came in. The doctor ordered some blood tests and an x-ray to rule out appendicitis. (He probably already knew that Aaron had appendicitis when he ordered the tests). We waited a while, and the doctor came back and told us Aaron's appendix had to come out at once. I called his Mom and she came to the hospital as fast as she could get there. Other phone calls were made, and both sets of grandparents, my Brother and Sister in law, and our Pastor, Bro. Herrington, came. It was a holiday so the surgeon and surgery crew had to be called in.
They did the surgery and told us all went well, and put Aaron in a room. The surgeon told us they were going to keep him overnight, and he could go home the next day if all went well. We stayed the rest of the day, and his mother refused to go home, so I told her to call us if she needed anything and I went home late that night.
I got a phone call around 3:00 A.M. that Aaron was very ill and they were starting him on nausea medicine. The hospital personnel told us that if the medicine didn't work, Aaron would need a tube in his stomach. Aaron had been on a regular diet, and they changed it to a liquid diet. I went over there early Tuesday morning, and Aaron was asleep. I had Physical Therapy so I went over to the therapy gym, which is in the hospital. When I got back, Aaron was still asleep, and seemed to be resting well. He woke up for breakfast, but it didn't do him any good. He couldn't even take a sip of water without being sick.
That went on all day, and again his mom wanted to stay overnight with him, so I went home late that night. I got a phone call around 4:00 A.M. that Aaron was very ill again. They put him on a very strong nausea medicine. The medicine made him sleep, but his nausea got better. They told him nothing by mouth, not even a sip of water or a piece of ice. He had a rough day Wednesday, but it was a little better than the day before. Thursday morning I went over there early as I did the day before. Aaron had a better day, but still nothing by mouth. His mom disobeyed the doctors orders and let him have some water, it didn't make him sick. The doctor let him have some water, and told him to walk as much as he could. He said if Aaron would walk, they would feed him. I had an appointment with my neurosurgeon on Friday. After my appointment, I went back to the hospital and found Aaron feeling much better. He had to stay most of the day. The doctor let him go home late Friday evening. He went home with his mom, who has been taking good care of him. We are finally seeing the light at the end of the tunnel, and things are pretty much back to normal.
